3. What inspired your organization to get involved in renewable energy?

Since 1910, SJI has remained committed to providing safe, reliable, affordable energy; ensuring the safety of our employees, customers, and the communities we serve; and stewarding the environment. SJI made a commitment to develop an industry-leading portfolio of RNG projects to improve energy security and reduce emissions, leveraging the natural gas infrastructure within our communities.

SJI is delighted to be a new member of SD Renewables to further develop relationships with regional stakeholders.

5. What developments in South Dakota’s renewable energy future are you most excited about?

We are excited about the opportunity to help develop South Dakota's agricultural-energy industry. South Dakota has a world-class agricultural industry that has continued to innovate. Natural gas continues to be an important part of the energy mix for South Dakota, including sectors that are hard to abate. We are particularly excited to bring the best of SD agriculture and the best of RNG technology together to produce a sustainable energy solution based on the same natural gas molecule.

6. Can you share a recent project, partnership, or initiative that you’re particularly proud of?

SJI continues to develop an initial portfolio of RNG projects across South Dakota that will deliver sufficient gas to fuel the equivalent of 20,000 homes.
